SA, Finland boost for biosciences
Finland will invest €3-million and South Africa R9-million in the Southern African Network for Biosciences, as part of a programme to develop bioscience skills and capacity and promote innovation in the southern African region.

It's not just physical spaces that pose obstacles to people with disabilities. Virtual spaces can be just as inaccessible. The National Accessibility Portal is working to change this, using assistive technology to enable people with disabilities to access and share information online in an affordable way.

Africa's biggest supercomputer
The government and multinational technology firm IBM have launched the Blue Gene for Africa initiative. Based in Cape Town, the Blue Gene/P will be the most powerful supercomputer on the continent, helping with projects ranging from environmental simulations to complex systems modelling.
